Pretty cool date to be born on huh! 3-2-10 at 11:55pm we delivered our baby via emergency C-section. So she is 5 weeks early. Here's the story- I had worked an easy 12 hr shift where I had easy patients and I was able to sit down alot. When I got home I didn't really feel tired- I was having a few little contractions but didn't think anything of it- until I was getting ready for bed at 9:30pm and a big gush of fluid came shooting down my leg... I was 100% sure it wasn't urine and I stood there staring at the puddle on our carpet in shock. I sat down on the toilet and it just kept coming out. Ben was so good and ran around packing everything up and we headed to the hospital!!! So they checked me and I was dilated to a 3 and having contractions every 3-5 mins but they felt her feet at the cervix- NOT THE HEAD!!! yikes! So the called the Dr and we were in the OR within 20 mins. Her head was way up in my ribs- hard to get out and they said she was so breech that she probably wouldn't have turned in more weeks anyway. My mom and dad were at the hospital waiting for me and Beth to come out. They are so great since it was 1:30 in the morning by the time they saw us! That night Beth's poor little undeveloped lungs needed more oxygen to keep her body oxygenated so they had to ambulance her to IMC- a much bigger hospital that has NICUs since little Alta View doesn't. She is on the vent there until her lungs are more developed. It stinks- I won't get to see her for a whole day but I got to see her a few times before she left so that's good. Sorry for all the details- mainly we are just glad to have her- she is sooo beautiful! We'll keep you updated!
